We met a couple of Jadyn's friends from Pre-school at the park today. She really misses her friends since school ended. It was a fun time.

New Furry Family Members

Meet Jack.... aka Jack Sparrow
7 weeks old, adopted from our local animal shelter. He is a rough, fearless little kitten.

and, Po
he is a 6 week old sweetheart that we found at our local feed store.
He was named after the Panda on the cartoon Kung Fu Panda.
He has very Asian cat eyes, if you ask me!

Spring!

Somehow I have been too busy to post Easter pictures!

Barbies husband

It has taken Jadyn months, I'm not kidding when I say months to play with Ken.
For some reason he is "too gross" and Barbie doesn't like him either. Until today, they got married. In fact Ken married about 6 different Barbies today, in his swim trunks.

It's fun to watch her play. Her imagination is pretty intense!

Fairies Everywhere!

Jadyn celebrated her 5th birthday Saturday with just about every child in her Pre-school class and our family!

It was a busy but fun day.

Glasses!

Her glasses happened to be ready to pick up on her birthday yesterday! Here she is enjoying her chicka wings! So far she is adjusting to them pretty well. She has taken them off a couple times and laid them on the table. But puts them back on with no problems!

The Big 5

Happy Birthday sweet girl! I can't believe your already 5. You were a tiny 2 yr old when you joined our family!

Jadyn enjoyed a birthday celebration at pre-school yesterday . She has picked out her favorite restaurant for dinner tonight....that would be Wing Stop! I tried to change her mind but, no such luck.

Are you sure?

Those were my words when a Dad of one of Jadyn's little classmates said "Jadyn should return for a complete eye exam" We went to his office on a field trip with her class, he is an optometrist.
I made her an appointment for a few days later and sure enough our girl has a pretty severe astigmatism. Her eye-sight is 20/40 in each eye, but that darn astigmatism distorts her vision pretty bad.

She can have lasik eye surgery to correct this when she is around 20 if she decides on that, until then she will need to wear glasses.

Miraflex frames

We have probably tried 50 pair of frames on her little face over this last week.
Very few have we agreed on.

We have chosen some kid friendly frames made by Miraflex. We ordered her a chocolate pair and a raspberry pair. They should be in this week.

Jadyn calls them sunglasses, I don't think she connects they are to help her see better, she doesn't know her vision is so off, because it has always been.

I'm not going to lie, I was sad for a couple reasons. I even took her to another eye Doctor for a second opinion. Same diagnosis.

1. She has been through so much in her short life, I hated to hear something else is wrong. Although minor, it's another thing for her to maintain and see a doctor for on a regular basis.

2. I don't want to cover up her sweet little face. (I told you, I wasn't going to lie)
I hope we made a good decision on her frames and she will look just as cute wearing them.
Thanks to lots of family input, I think we did.

Another crazy place to fall asleep

I don't know any other kid that does this! I had to move her for safety reasons! Thankfully she's feeling better now and isn't taking random naps all over the house!

Feeling a little better

Today is the first day she has felt like eating all week. Her fever is gone and her cough doesn't sound like whopping cough so much anymore! I think she's prone to bronchitis when she gets a cold.

She decided she was too tired to make it upstairs today so she took a nap on them instead.

"I get a present when I'm sick?"

Jadyn has strep throat and bronchitis. Our poor girl feels awful! She has a cough that is so deep, if she wasn't my kid I would run the other way. Her fever is stubborn, staying at 103 even with fever reducer.

I brought her home a princess make-up kit today and she says all excited
"I get a present when I'm sick?"

I'm hoping she starts feeling better soon, she is on some strong antibiotics.

Tax Time

I was busy working on a family members taxes and stepped away to make Jadyn some lunch, I turned around to see she had taken over for me!
