Trick or Treat

It took one house and Jadyn had it down! She kept saying "Jadyn caney"(candy) that KitKat was hers and she let everyone know it! I just love to watch her experience new things. She was so excited!

As for Dracula, can you read the look on his face? he was not happy with his make-up and was not at all thrilled that Mom was making him go trick or treating. It has never been his favorite thing, plus it's his birthday today and we are out of town in a hotel. Big brother has hockey this weekend! Happy Birthday Jeron!

Our pretty little bug

Ohh that was fun!

Check-Up

Jadyn had her 6 week post op check-up today. She was not as thrilled as her Doctor and I, but she did better, no tears when we walked in the front door.

She does not have to return to see her cardiologist for 6 months! He wants her to get a flu shot (both kinds) next week and enjoy being 2!

We can even pick her up under her arms now, no more butt scooping. That really made it hard to get her in and out of her car seat and just plain remembering to pick her up correctly. Her breast bone and incision scar look great as well.

They are planning on doing the second and final stage of her heart repair next Spring or summer.

I mentioned in my last post that Jadyn was going to be having some physical therapy for Gross motor skills, she had that appointment yesterday. Just as I figured she is behind, things like stairs, running and good balance needs some help.
They also tested her in fine motor and she surpassed her age group, she tested above age level in social skills and problem solving too. She is a smart little girl!

The therapists were very impressed. 2 months ago she was living in a orphanage and today she is a happy, healthy, mostly on target 2 year old. They predict with their help, in 6 months she will be on target in Gross motor. She really enjoyed the "testing" they do it through play and she really had no idea it was anything more than fun play time. In fact she was upset when it was time to leave!

Starting next week a therapist will come to our house once a week to work with Jadyn until she feels she is caught up.

Enjoy the picture, I think we have a little Diva, if only I could get a pose and a smile at the same time!

She's here....

Jadyn's WheeleyBug came today. She "test drove" one of these ride-on's at our local children's boutique and just loved it. It was just so expensive, we left without one.

Once home I did some research on-line and found they have received lots of awards for gross motor skill development. That pretty much sold me on it her, Miss Mouse. Thanks to e*Bay for the great deal too.

Jadyn is behind on her gross motor skills. She has no idea how to climb stairs, jump, run, ect. She is starting physical therapy next week for this.

It's very common for a child who has lived in an orphanage to come home behind in some sort of motor skill. We are confident she will catch up quickly, as she has already come a long way in her walking since she has been home.

I know, she's missing her pants and socks, Miss Mouse came during her nap and there was no time to get dressed once she saw her!

We received our beautiful little girl.

She has gone through so many changes in the last 60 days

She has had open heart surgery

She has gained 4 pounds and grown 1" taller

She has learned lots of English words
and...
She finally likes our dog (sorry no pictures of that yet!)

We could not be more pleased with the progress Jadyn has made transitioning into our family. She is a happy, smart, loving, healthy little girl

My friend gave her a shirt that says "I was worth the wait" we couldn't agree more!
